Voyeuristic Traditions Vs New Epoch! Don't miss!

Do I believe that news coverage has become voyeuristic?

Well, to start with, lets be honest with ourselves :)) We cannot say peremptorily that  news coverage has become voyeuristic. The ugly truth is that any era in history had plenty of violent events that have passed for entertainment and delivering information to people. Do you know about the places as Coliseum in ancient Rome? yeahhh... That place had seating for tens of thousands to watch gladiators fight to the death. Did you read about sixteenth and seventeenth centuries with their public punishment? yeahhh...  Many people REGULARLY visited the witness executions, from crucifixions in ancient Rome to beheading in revolutionary France or to hangings in the old American West. Thus, today violent entertainment (including "blockbuster-type-news") just comes in different form, because 19th or 20th centuries came to our homes with "mini versions of Coliseum", which are press, radio, TV and Internet.

I would rather ask myself: " Do we, as modern human beings with the new values of new epoch, really need to continue voyeuristic traditions or not?" And my answer would be NO, IT WOULD BE BRILLIANT TO STOP  AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO RAPE OUR FEELINGS AND SOULS.

I do not claim to the title "Hon. Psychologist and Psychiatrist of the Year", however commonsense loudly and confidently tells me about danger of the emotional violence. I believe, that emotional violence in news in particular and in the media in general, affects the mind and damages an individual's sense of safety and well-being. Cruel but steel and unshakable logic of media representatives with their constant chase for ratings through savoring of sanguinary details can throw good money into their bank accounts. However, you don't need to be an extra sane pacifist to realize that it would never be worth someone's additional tears and suffering. Sin and happiness cannot dwell together and ill-gotten gains never prosper.
