Assessment tasks

Assessment Task 1

Individually or in pairs you will be required to make a 15-30 minute presentation (15-individual: 30-pair) on ANY subject you feel passionate about!

That's right! ANYTHING! Why your new car is special, local politics, soccer, teach us how to make a decent coffee, draw a cartoon, the geo-political situation in Eritrea, how to grow potatoes in a car tire. The subject matter is only limited by your imagination and human decency (No objectionable matter).

THE CATCH?

You must create and use a blog/website to present your topic to the class and it must be rich in links and resource material that you can make use of in your presentation.

Include text, photos, video clips, short films etc to add impact.

Assessment Task 2

In the tab titled "TEXTS" you will find links to various online & digital texts.

Each week I will add new links to texts I would like you to explore.
Once you have read, watched or listened to the text you must analyse it and post a personal response to it on this blog.

While I may pose specific questions in regard to the text you should always consider the following when posting a response:

  • What is this article about?
  • Who is it aimed at?
  • Is it effective?
  • Does it present a valid argument?
  • Does the composer have an 'agenda'?
  • Did it resonate with you?
  • Did you have an emotional response?
Do you agree with the message it is communicating?
  • How could it have more impact?
  • Are there any stylistic features which work/don't work?
Keep you responses fluid and conversational, inject some humour, irreverence and opinion but most of all put some effort into understanding why the text was created.

At least two of your responses are to be delivered to camera (video) and uploaded.
