At school i was the biggest gossip head. I had to know everything about everyone. Whether it was bad or good, i just had to know! I would get told every little piece of information, right down to the bindi's in the knees. And you know what, i LOVED it.
But how much is too much?
In the case of the Aurora shootings, where James Eagan Holmes opened fire in a movie theatre during the midnight screening of The Dark Knight Rises, i think the media went way too far with their constant broadcast and thrashing of the story. Yes, it was a tragedy and we all deserve to hear what happened so we are aware, but whoa, milking it for all it has is a bit too much, even for our news-hungry eyes and ears.
The repeated headlines or 'breaking news' of new findings of the Aurora shootings is not helping with the court case that James Holmes is going through. He has been splashed all over our televisions screens to the point where he is pretty much famous. A psycho mass murder is now famous?? what is this world coming to!? Do media outlets really believe that the constant broadcasting of this story will help matters? No. They dont really care. Just as long as their ratings are up they are happy as larry. I like to know what goes on in the world but some things should be left swept under the rug.
If only the media would wait to have the entire story first and then air it, but if they did that, then journalist would have to come up with new and boring way on how chocolate is bad for you. And we cant have that now can we!
I love your little sayings;
