It's not just black and white

It’s not just black and white
No one really knows what was going through Damien Hooper’s mind when he entered that boxing ring at the London Olympics with an aboriginal flag T-shirt instead of the required Australian flag.
Was it to make his voice heard?
Make a spectacle out of himself?
Or he wanted to represent his people instead of his country?
No matter what his motive was for wearing the T-shirt I personally agree with Anthony Mundine it does take big balls to do what Hooper did, but that doesn’t necessarily make it right.
The Olympics is about country’s coming together competing for their country doing something they love and feel passionate about. I think passion for one’s country is where ideology and politics butt heads, I can’t imagine how much pressure would be put on these athletes to win the gold and then when you chuck religion and culture into the mix were lucky that all Hooper did was wear the wrong T-shirt!
Rules and regulations are put in to place for a reason; if they are bent for one person to represent a different culture who knows what that will end in.
The fact that these athletes made it to the Olympics is already a great accomplishment so everyone should just stop their winging and just represent their country with pride and just do their best in whatever their competing in.
