Carnage in the Newsroom

Carnage in the Newsroom

“The awkward truth is that the sort of coverage that has followed the 'Batman' killings will simply fuel future murderous rampages” this statement can be argued until we are all blue in the face! What I personally think about how the media covers certain mass murder stories is a little disheartening in regards to the family members of the victims/accused. Imagine every time you turn around being reminded of the worst day of your life?

In saying that as a bystander with no emotional attachment to the issue at all, I do like hearing about what it happening around the world.

Sure I think that the media is vulgar but to be honest I can’t think of a time it wasn’t? These types of stories are what attract's an audience. In today’s money driven society the media really has no choice but to real in those drama craving individuals with images and descriptive horrific stories to up their ratings.

I don’t know how far I would go to say that covering these sorts of stories are encouraging others to go on a killing spree but it is I guess an outlet for sickos out there just waiting for an excuse to snap. We can say what we like about the subject but we won’t all crowd around our TV at night and watch people skipping merrily around a campfire, even 7th Heaven a TV series famous for the angelic Camden family faced dramatic issues.
