Press/Media Freedom

I believe the Media "has" become voyeuristic and is using sensationalism to grab ratings/sales.

Apart from the fact that all the TV and radio report the exact same headlines all trying to "out do" each other in the most shocking or titilating way.  I really don't need to know the intimate details of "how" 27 people were killed and what the killer did or thought over and over again every hour on the hour, and a lot of time these details are not even true, but heresay.

At a local level the MercuryNewspaper has gotten itself into hot water by covering a young girls death on a quad bike.  The photographer used a long lens to capture a grieving mother next to the body of her dead daughter!

Do we really need to see the graphic image of that woman's grief?

Is there so little else in the world to report on?? I think not.

Media has become lazy and jaded in what they deem news worthy.

How do we turn back the hands of time when journalism had "some" integritiy or at least had a decent amount of respect for those involved or will be affected by a story.

I believe Reality TV has been the beginning of the end as we think nothing of being voyuers of people's most intimate moments we are becoming desensitised to what is acceptable for public consumption.
